Today is the United Nations International Day of Persons with Disabilities and Accentuate is pleased to celebrate all that has been achieved since our launch.
On this day three years ago Accentuate launched as an ambitious programme of 15 major projects, seeking to bring about a cultural shift in attitudes towards disability by showcasing talent and providing real opportunities for Deaf and disabled people to take part and lead.
You can see the impressive results achieved so far in our celebration book. Please follow this link to download the PDF or word versions:

Accentuate has also provoked debate led by disabled people. Cultural Shifts is a collection of essays about disability, success, art, sport and the influence of the London 2012 Paralympics Games.
Written by leading artists, Paralympians and cultural commentators:
Jon Adams, Jamie Beddard, Esther Fox, Colin Hambrook, Sarah Playforth and Kristina Veasey.

The authors of this publication will now form the Accentuate Ideas Hub and we will be developing innovative new projects that initiate change.
Accentuate has exciting times ahead of us and on this day which celebrates disabled people, we are delighted that we are in position to build on our successes, grow innovative and creative projects and broker new partnerships. We will keep you up to date as to our new areas of work over the coming months.
